Jordan’s rising 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th graders to learn from updated curricula — NCCD

AMMAN — The National Centre for Curriculum Development (NCCD) is set to develop schoolbooks and curricula for the first, fourth, seventh and tenth grades.

According to the NCCD, the new curricula will be taught beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. There will be no changes to the curricula of other grades, the centre confirmed.

Commenting on the prospective updates, science teacher Dana Laham told The Jordan Times: “Updating the curriculum is needed in order to lay a firm foundation for students and keep up with recent changes in the learning process.”

Restructuring schoolbooks, eliminating certain units while adding new ones, and other changes improve learning opportunities for students, she added.

“As much as curriculum development is important, it is also equally vital that teachers have the ability to bring about those new changes,” Khloud Efishat, a Jordanian Arabic language teacher, told The Jordan Times on Wednesday.

Nada Omar, a mother of two, said that “changing schoolbooks will help strengthen the national educational system, which has been long criticised by educators and parents”.
