Jordan welcomes ceasefire agreement in Sudan

AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry has welcomed the short-term ceasefire agreement, spanning seven days, between Sudan’s Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, signed in Jeddah on Saturday.
The agreement is scheduled to come into force 48 hours after its signing.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement, commended the important role and efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia and the US in reaching the agreement.
The Foreign Ministry expressed hope that this step would contribute to facilitating the access of relief and humanitarian assistance to the affected areas.
The ministry also expressed hope that the agreement would pave the way for a lasting and comprehensive cessation of fighting in Sudan and meet the aspirations of Sudanese people for security, stability and prosperity.
