AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi on Wednesday reaffirmed the Jordanian Parliament’s commitment to continuous coordination with the Parliament of Azerbaijan to serve the interests of both nations and advance partnership and productive cooperation.

During a meeting with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Safadi expressed his keenness for enhanced coordination between the two countries.

The foreign minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah to the president of Azerbaijan, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

President Aliyev affirmed the deep-rooted bilateral relations between Jordan and Azerbaijan, and commended Jordan's role in promoting peace, security and stability in the region.

"I have a special bond with my brother, His Majesty King Abdullah, and we maintain continuous communication," Aliyev said.  He also expressed delight in the upcoming celebrations of Jordan's Independence Day and the wedding of HRH Crown Prince Hussein.

President Aliyev underscored the significance of mutual coordination between the parliaments of both countries, emphasising the wide-ranging potential for collaborative efforts in economic exchange, tourism, food industries and expanding access to international markets given Jordan and Azerbaijan's multiple free trade agreements.

Safadi's visit to Azerbaijan was extended in response to an invitation from the Azerbaijani speaker of the Parliament. During the visit, he delivered a speech at the Parliament's headquarters, commemorating the centenary of the birth of the late President Heydar Aliyev.
