AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Thursday continued to hold discussions with his European counterparts, updating them on the outcomes of the Amman Consultative Meeting on Syria, as well as the next steps in the Arab political path meant to gradually reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

During his communications, Safadi stressed the importance of the agreements that resulted from the Amman Consultative Meeting, which are intended to make progress towards a solution that will address all the humanitarian, security and political consequences of the crisis.

Safadi’s talks with his European counterparts also covered future prospects for crisis resolution efforts and discussed the necessary steps to address key issues, in accordance to a step-by-step methodology and the Security Council Resolution 2254.

The measures include delivering humanitarian aid to all Syrians in need, the safe and voluntary return of refugees, anti-terrorism measures and tackling the danger of drug trafficking, which requires a comprehensive consideration of security and political factors.

Safadi discussed these matters with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, Malta's Foreign Minister Evarist Bartolo, who holds a non-permanent seat on the Security Council, and Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.

The ministers acknowledged the significance of efforts towards gradually resolving the crisis in Syria and putting an end to all of its consequences.
