AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Monday expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation of actions committed by the Israeli minister of finance during an event held in Paris on Sunday.
The Israeli minister displayed a map of Israel that included the borders of the Kingdom and the occupied Palestinian territories, which the ministry denounced as a provocative act in violation of international norms and the Jordanian-Israeli peace treaty, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
The ministry's spokesperson, Ambassador Sinan Al Majali, said that the ministry also condemned the extremist and racist statements made by the Israeli minister regarding the Palestinians, as well as comments against the Palestinian right to exist and exercise their historical rights in their independent and sovereign state on Palestinian soil.
The statement also warned of the danger of such extremist and racist actions, and called on the international community to condemn the minister's provocative acts that violate humanitarian norms.
The spokesperson further emphasised the need for the Israeli government to take a clear and explicit position against these extremist actions and hateful statements on the part of its Cabinet member.
The Foreign Ministry affirmed that it will take all necessary political and legal measures to confront such extremist actions and statements and the serious escalation they represent, which threatens regional security and stability.
These extremist and hateful actions, as well as the Israeli minister’s statements, do not harm Jordan nor diminish the rights of the Palestinians. Instead, they reveal to the world the historical injustice inflicted upon the Palestinians and the danger of the Israeli minister's extremist and racist ideology, the statement read.
