Fayez, Turkey ambassador discuss broadening bilateral cooperation

AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez and Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Erdem Ozan discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries in various fields and means to develop them. 

Fayez stressed Jordan's desire to strengthen bilateral relations and maintain coordination and consultation on various issues of mutual interest, referring to the importance of boosting economic cooperation and initiating bilateral agreements in various fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The ambassador reiterated his country's desire to enhance relations with Jordan and other Arab countries, as well as to expand economic and investment partnerships, and to initiate cooperation between the two countries. 

Also on Tuesday, members of the Jordanian-Turkish Friendship Committee at the Senate met with Ozan, where the Head of the Committee, Senator Yasin Husban, praised Turkey’s support of the Kingdom's unaltered stances towards the Palestinian issue and the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, Petra reported.

Ozan also expressed appreciation for Jordan sending messages of solidarity and condolences, as well as humanitarian assistance to the Turkish government and people in the aftermath of the earthquake that recently struck the country.   

He also expressed pride in the level of relations between the two countries in various political, investment and cultural fields, and affirmed his country's endeavours to develop and build upon them to serve the interests of both countries.

Ozan reiterated his country's unequivocal support for the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and the preservation of the historical and legal status quo. 

He pointed out that Jordan's positions, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, on various local, regional and international issues resulted in the Kingdom earning  respect from the international community.
