AMMAN — Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Thursday highlighted Jordan's commitment to promoting the rights and integration of people with disabilities in society during a meeting with German Federal Government Commissioner for the Interests of Persons with Disabilities, Jürgen Dusel, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Bani Mustafa said: “Jordan is unique in the region for enacting the 2017 Persons with Disabilities Law, which aims to promote and protect the abilities and skills of people with disabilities in health, education, employment and social life.”

Jordan has “become a pioneer” in providing daytime services for people with disabilities and transforming the shelter system under a 10-year plan that ends in 2027, she said.

Both sides also discussed preparations for the upcoming “World Disability Summit”, co-hosted by Germany, Jordan and the International Disability Alliance (IDA).

Dusel praised Jordan's measures to support people with disabilities, and emphasised the importance of the World Disability Summit 2025.
