Trade minister meets with industrialists in Irbid

AMMAN — Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali on Saturday met with a number of industrialists in Irbid, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, he said that the 2023-2025 executive plan of the Economic Modernisation Vision, recently approved by the government, features priorities to bolster the industrial sector's competitiveness.
A number of 418 priorities, with a total value of JD2.3 billion, as well as a number of initiatives, with a value of worth JD670 million, will be implemented in 2023.
Shamali said that the high-value industrial plan aims to prepare Jordan to become a hub for regional industries through 64 initiatives and 116 priorities, standing at a total cost of JD315 million, of which JD91 million will be allocated for 2023.
The industry support fund, for which JD30 million are allocated annually, seeks to reduce production costs and raise the national industry's competitiveness among global markets, he added.
Under the Economic Modernisation Vision, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply seeks to open new markets for national exports by signing necessary agreements with other countries, he said.
National exports stood at a value of JD6.82 billion during the first 10 months of 2022, with a growth rate of 40.7 per cent, he highlighted.
