Prince Mired calls for increasing political participation of persons with disabilities

AMMAN — HH Prince Mired, president of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), on Monday expressed optimism in increasing the political participation of persons with disabilities. 

During a visit to the Independent Election Commission (IEC), Prince Mired voiced confidence in the commission's role as a constitutional institution and commended its procedures towards facilitating the participation of persons with disabilities in elections, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. 

The prince also went over a number of   challenges that persons with disabilities faced in previous elections and highlighted solutions. 

The CRPD and IEC agreed to advance cooperation and form a joint team to discuss the means of enhancing political and electoral participation, mainly easing access to polling centres.
