AMMAN — In a meeting with a South Korean parliamentary delegation on Sunday, Senate President Faisal Fayez highlighted the “solidity” of Jordanian-Korean relations, which are based on mutual respect, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Fayez affirmed His Majesty King Abdullah and the Senate's commitment to further advance bilateral relations with South Korea in various fields.
Jordan's economy has been affected by surrounding conflicts and instability, especially Israel's rejection of peace and failure to adhere to international laws related to Palestinians' rights, Fayez said.
Other conditions affecting the Kingdom’s economy include the ramifications the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war, he added.
Amman is keen on forming partnerships and increasing investments with Seoul, he said, urging Korean investors to benefit from investment opportunities in the Kingdom's medical tourism, transport, energy, water and mining sectors.
Safety and security, an encouraging investment environment, investor-protective legislation, strategic geographic location, free trade agreements and existence of economic and development zones render Jordan a regional and global business hub, Fayez added.
Highlighting the 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the South Korean delegation expressed keenness in further developing ties with Jordan.
The delegation stressed Jordan's role in the peace process and its “distinguished location and love for peace”. The South Korean representatives also noted their country’s ongoing economic cooperation with the Kingdom in the energy and construction sectors.
The delegation called for expanding partnerships in green energy, hydrogenic industries and renewable energy.
