AMMAN — The Amman Court of First Instance (CFI) on Wednesday handed a three-year prison sentence to a public employee after convicting him of embezzlement.
The public servant, a supervisor of a fodder warehouse in the eastern region, was ordered to pay back JD1.3 million after he stole a quantity of barley worth over JD677,466. In addition to ordering him to pay back the embezzled amount, a specialised judicial committee tasked with trying corruption cases at the CFI ordered the defendant to pay JD677,466 in fines, the same amount he embezzled from the warehouse, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
