AMMAN — In a Jordan Economic Forum session, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Nasser Shraideh described the Economic Modernisation Vision as the Kingdom’s plan, noting that it was developed with the input of representatives from various sectors.

Addressing a panel session on the executive plan for the Economic Modernisation Vision, Shraideh stressed the importance of using updated tools and methods to combat the Kingdom’s current challenges, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The vision includes 147 initiatives distributed over multiple sectors, as well as 378 work priorities with specific timelines, the minister said.

Shraideh forecasted a rise in the national GDP to 2.7 per cent in the next year and to 3 per cent in 2025, with an expected GDP per capita of JD3,982 in 2025 and an expected export value of JD9.713 million in that same year. Next year, net foreign investment is expected to reach JD1.092 billion, he added.

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan said that the plan prioritises preparedness, appropriate funding and harmony with the vision’s main objectives, which include boosting Jordan’s indicators of economic development and women’s empowerment, notably in business fields.

A total of JD56 million has already been allocated to the plan’s investment initiatives, out of a total JD171 million designated to investment plans, she said.

The minister also noted that the cost of fuel price difference could reach JD450 million in 2023.
