AMMAN — Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna) and the US LWF Company have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to discover water pipe leaks using the company’s cutting-edge technology, the Water Ministry announced on Monday.
Attending the signing ceremony, Water Minister Mohammed Najjar said that signing this memo with a specialised US company is intended to implement the Kingdom's strategy to reduce water loss, and share the expertise and technologies needed to limit water leaks in the network, according to a ministry statement.
The minister noted that this strategy seeks to reduce water loss at the national level to below 25 per cent by 2040 so that various sectors can benefit from the saved water. He added that the memo stipulates that the US company will conduct field surveys on over 20 kilometres of water pipes within Miyahuna areas, and the company will incur the costs of this project as a pioneering experiment.
