AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Thursday met Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi and members of its Permanent Office.
The premier emphasised the government's keenness to enhance cooperation with the Lower Chamber, as part of integration and separation of powers as granted by the Constitution.
He also commended the government's achievements, notably the legislation related to the modernisation of the political system, as well as the laws governing the investment climate, and child rights, among others which are the fruit of cooperation with Parliament.
The PM also reiterated the government's respect for the oversight and legislative role, noting that a number of key laws are pending approval during the current session. Safadi attached importance to enhancing cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities to achieve our national goals.
“We have great responsibilities that require Parliament and the government to maintain integration for the sake of the supreme national interest,” he said, noting that the legislative body and the government have different roles but share common goals.
