Workshop sheds light on boosting Jordan's water services

AMMAN — Acting Secretary General of the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), Rami Abu Rawaq, said developing partnerships with the private sector helps manage Jordan's water sector, which would effectively plan, develop and improve services provided to citizens.
Speaking at USAID Water Engineering Services Activity workshop, organised by WAJ, he noted the USAID-funded project comes within water sector's efforts to promote the concept of human resource development and exchange expertise and enhance capabilities to develop water resources, increase their efficiency, and reduce financial costs, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
USAID representatives affirmed the continued support to Jordan's water sector, focusing on projects and capacity building programmes within the framework of the long partnership to address various challenges, and enable the water sector to manage the water supply system and sanitation services with "high" efficiency. Under the public-private partnership, the quality of service was enhanced and 49 projects were implemented.
