PM meets with Egypt, Tunisia PM, IFC official

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh met with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden, and Managing Director and Executive Vice President to head the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Makhtar Diop on the sidelines of the COP27 Climate Conference in Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh on Tuesday.

Khasawneh and Madbouly highlighted the distinguished bilateral ties binding the two countries, describing them as a model for relations between Arab countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The two prime ministers agreed to hold a meeting of the Joint Higher Jordanian-Egyptian Committee in Amman in the near future.

Stressing the importance of tripartite cooperation between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, they also underlined the necessity of giving impetus to advance this cooperation.

Commending Egypt’s organising the conference, Khasawneh highlighted the pioneering Egyptian role at the Arab, regional and international levels.

Madbouly expressed appreciation for Jordan's distinguished participation in the conference, including the attendance of His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Crown Prince Hussein and senior officials.

In a meeting with Bouden, Khasawneh referred to the distinguished Jordanian-Tunisian relations, voicing keenness to bolster cooperation in all fields.

Khasawneh stressed the importance of holding the meetings of the Joint Higher Jordanian-Tunisian Committee, agreeing with Bouden to hold them in Amman soon.

He also indicated that he will direct Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to hold the meetings of the Tunisia-Jordan Reflection and Political Consultation Committee. 

Bouden affirmed keenness to strengthen relations with Jordan and expand horizons of cooperation.

During his meeting with Diop, Khasawneh also discussed bolstering partnership and cooperation between the Jordanian government and the IFC.

The two sides focused on IFC’s support for Jordan’s future strategic projects, most notably the National Water Carrier Project (Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Transport Project).

The meetings were attended by the Minister of Environment Muawieh Radaideh and Jordan's Ambassador to Egypt Amjad Adaileh.
