AMMAN — Jusoor has launched the fourth edition of its flagship regional project “Startup Roadshow”, aimed at empowering refugee-led startups and their host-communities.

“Jusoor founded this project to enhance the resilience of [Syrian refugees and locals in host communities],” in an effort to create the greatest positive impact in their lives, according to a statement from Jusoor sent to The Jordan Times on Thursday.

Jusoor is an international NGO and a leading global actor in educational and entrepreneurial programmes for Syrians and host communities’ children and youth.

Speaking with The Jordan Times, Entrepreneurship Programme Manager Ziena Abu Dalbouh said that project's fourth iteration "will begin in December, and will target over 120 Jordanians and Syrians”.

According to Abu Dalbouh, the project will provide business training, mentoring and coaching, in addition to support for building brand identities and websites for each business.

Jusoor emphasised the untapped entrepreneurial potential of Syrian refugees, saying that "if [those entrepreneurs] are given the necessary support, they could significantly contribute to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the MENA region”.

The project, first launched in 2018, aims at enabling those entrepreneurs to access a wider range of markets, as well as helping them overcome legal obstacles. Jusoor will also introduce the participants to regional investors and startup incubators which can accelerate the success of their startups.
