AMMAN — Jordan Nurses and Midwives Association (JNMA) on Saturday warned the public against announcements of training courses on certain medical procedures, advertised as "nursing courses", that are being promoted by certain private centres.

No one has the right to use these procedures without a certificate of practice and the appropriate licence from the Ministry of Health, the association said. A system has been set, association representatives added, to regulate the profession and to ensure that it is not tampered with, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The relevant supervisory authorities called for following up on the issue, notably to discontinue these courses and prevent those who promote them, especially because profitability is their primary goal.

The association called on citizens not to fall for these courses, as those who run these centres claim that graduates can practise professional nursing procedures without official authorisation.

The association stressed that legal action will be taken against any person who announces or holds such courses, stressing that whoever provides any nursing or medical service without a lawful and duly licensed practice will be held accountable.
