AMMAN — The French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France organised a four-day participative workshop that gathered Cities and Villages Development Bank (CVDB) teams to facilitate the construction of their transformation roadmap. This workshop marks the commencement of a close partnership between AFD and CVDB, one of the main players within the local development scene, financing the municipal sector in Jordan.
AFD will provide half a million euros in technical support, implemented by Expertise France, over the next two years. This funding intends to strengthen the operational and technical performance of the CVDB by supporting the implementation of new functions within its processes — such as risk management, compliance, as well as the consolidation of its technical service offers to municipalities. In his opening remarks, Osama Al-Azzam, CVDB Director General, stressed the need for developing a clear five-year strategy that aligns with the new CVDB law and its objectives. The goal is to improve the CVDB’s operations and apply best professional practices to reflect positively on its partners.
