Safadi, OSCE Secretary-General discuss security enhancement

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation and dialogue between the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and its Mediterranean partners on fundamental issues of regional concern in order to “reach tangible results” with regards to comprehensive security enhancement. 
During a meeting with the Secretary-General of the OSCE, Helga Schmid, held on the shores of the Dead Sea, Safadi highlighted the Kingdom's keenness to advance partnership with the organisation, the world's largest regional security body concerned with achieving stability and enhancing dialogue between various countries.
The meeting came on the eve of the OSCE Mediterranean Conference,  scheduled to be held in the Dead Sea region on Monday.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, whose country is the chair  the OSCE’s Mediterranean partners, will preside over the event. The conference will also feature the participation of the Polish Foreign Mnister Zbigniew Rao, representatives of the 57 member states of the OSCE, the organisation's 10 Mediterranean and Asian partners, OSCE Secretary-General Schmid, OSCE  Parliamentary Assembly Secretary General Roberto Montella and a number of its parliamentary members.
Schmid expressed the OSCE's appreciation for the Kingdom's efforts in hosting the event, commending Jordan's effective role in enhancing the Mediterranean partnership.
She also lauded Jordan's work in maintaining peace and security and enhancing dialogue between different cultures.
