AMMAN — Twenty-eight-year-old Jordanian singer Idreesi is due to launch his debut album “Ma7boobi” on August 12 at MNFA, Amman.

MNFA is a performance and events venue located next to the University of Jordan’s North Gate in Amman that “aims to provide both tangible and digital multi-sensory experiences,” according to the venue’s Instagram page.

Idreesi’s album, released on independent record label Wall of Sound on July 15, is a 14-track project that includes songs written and produced over a six-year timespan.

“I feel like this album is the first step in my professional music career, so I’ve put all my creative energy into making it,” Idreesi said in a statement sent to The Jordan Times.

The album is inspired by the artist’s background in theatre and acting, and is written from the point of view of hypothetical characters borne from Idreesi’s imagination. The album itself aims to tell Idreesi’s story, encompassing his personal experiences and different stages of life.

On the personal nature of the album, Idreesi stated that “the story, for me, is a healing process that inspired me to write the album and find meaning in the songs and form links between them. At the same time, I want people to find their own meanings in my music.”

Idreesi noted that the story itself however, is “vague” and “not obvious”, and he upholds that it is not told in a traditional way. But, this is by design — Idreesi does not want the audience to be distracted from the music itself.

Idreesi self-directed the creative process for the album, and recorded both the songs and the video clips concurrently.

“It was not an easy task for me or for my small production team, but we succeeded regardless, and recorded five music videos for the album in Amman and released it on my YouTube channel,” Idreesi continued in the statement.

The launch is set to feature Amman-based producer Nayrouz and electro-pop duo Garaseen in addition to Idreesi’s performance.
