Students reflect on Tawjihi experiences

AMMAN — As Tawjihi (the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination) draws to a close, students share their experiences during their finals.

The Arabic language examination is left and until now everything went smoothly, Joud Al Manaseer, a Tawjihi student in the literary stream, told The Jordan Times on Sunday.

“I only had difficulty with the English language examination,” said Manaseer, who added that the pattern of questions differed from how she studied for the exams. 

She criticised having all examinations except for English and Arabic languages, and mathematics in the form of multiple choice.

Meanwhile, Nawaf Ajarmeh, secretary general at the Education Ministry, said that the ministry is considering changing the multiple-choice format questions in the upcoming sessions to ensure fairness among students and prevent cheating attempts during the exams, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The 2022 Tawjihi session which began on June 30, included 204,138 students, according to a statement by the Ministry of Education. The national exam is being held in 1,939 halls in 786 schools across the Kingdom, the ministry said.

“For sure preparing for and taking exams have caused stress and anxiety, but now I am relieved that I finally finished,” Jouri Rami, a Tawjihi student in the scientific stream, told The Jordan Times.

She added that her physics and mathematics exams were “long and quite difficult”, wishing that she had more time to revise her answers.
