Safadi meets number of foreign ministers on NATO summit sidelines

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Wednesday held a series of meetings with a number of his counterparts participating in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) summit in Madrid.

Talks during the meetings covered bilateral relations under the EU-Jordan partnership, in addition to multiple international and regional issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause and efforts to move peace process forward, notably to launch effective negotiations on the basis of the two-state solution.

A political solution to the Syrian crisis, Iraq's stability, supporting Lebanon and the repercussions of the Ukrainian crisis on food and energy security were discussed as well, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The meetings included the foreign ministers of the Netherlands, Wopke Hoekstra, Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu, Sweden, Ann Linde, Germany, Annalena Baerbock, Spain, Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, Italy, Luigi Di Maio, Canada, Melanie Joly, Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, and France, Catherine Colonna.

Safadi also met with his Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Salem Marzouk, discussing means do advance cooperation between both countries.
