AMMAN — The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj) on Sunday announced holding the ninth edition of its Middle East and North Africa (MENA) ICT Forum on November 16 and 17, at the Dead Sea, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The announcement came during a meeting to introduce the importance of the forum, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Economy, Samira Al Zu’bi, and a number of diplomats in the Kingdom.

Intaj Chairman of the Board of Directors Eid Sweis said that holding the forum this year comes after the end of the COVID pandemic, indicating that it aims to highlight the role of the Jordanian ICT sector and entrepreneurship to regional and international decision makers from the public and private sectors.

The forum will feature an exhibition that will include pavilions for local, Arab and international companies, he said, adding that national pavilions will also be allocated to enable countries to network, through their companies, with Jordanian companies, by displaying their products and business solutions.

Sweis noted that the forum also aims to shed light on the role of technology in solving urgent global challenges facing most countries, especially with the radical impact of the pandemic.

A number of issues will be discussed over two consecutive days, the most important of which are artificial intelligence and financial technology, smart industries, blockchain technology, and metaverses, he said.

He added that the forum will provide a space for regional and international entrepreneurs and emerging companies, through interactive sessions and workshops, to enhance a range of business skills needed to accelerate the growth of their companies.

Intaj Board Member Ruba Darwish said that the forum will feature a number of investors, representatives from investment funds, the government sector, entrepreneurs, startups, policy makers, ICT specialists, academics, researchers and equity shareholders.
