AMMAN — Under the patronage of HRH Princess Ghida Talal, chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Centre (KHCC), the KHCC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the German Cancer Research Centre (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ).

Signed at the KHCC, the agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the areas of cancer research, including the creation of cancer prevention strategies, developing cancer diagnostic technologies, and training, in addition to creating a data base to exchange research data on genes of brain tumors, according to a KHCC statement.

KHCC CEO Asem Mansour and Stefan Pfister, division head of the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Department at DKFZ, signed the MoU.

During the signing event, Princess Ghida said: “We at the King Hussein Cancer Centre believe that partnerships with international cancer centres have a vital role in advancing our work, through exchanging experiences and information, and harnessing cutting-edge technologies in research. Such cooperation is critical to achieving our goals in scientific research, which is the future of cancer treatment.”

DKFZ is based in Heidelberg, Germany and is the largest biomedical research institute in Germany with more than 3,000 researchers working in 90 departments, in addition to specialised researchers who are dedicated to cancer treatment research, said the statement.
