GDP up by 2.2% in 2021— DoS

AMMAN — Jordan’s GDP at constant market prices grew by 2.2 per cent last year, compared with 2020, according to report released on Sunday by the Department of Statistics (DoS).

The DoS’ quarterly report indicated that GDP rose by 2.6 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2021 when compared with 2020.

The department also noted that preliminary estimations suggest that economic sectors achieved growth between the fourth quarters of 2021 and 2020, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The DoS added that the construction sector achieved the highest growth rate of 6.1 per cent in this period, while other areas that saw significant growth include mining and quarries (5.6 per cent) and transport (3.9 per cent). In addition, trade, hotels and restaurants saw a growth rate of 3.5 per cent.
