AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone, in coordination with the Military Security Directorate and the Anti-Narcotics Department, on Sunday at dawn foiled an attempt to smuggle “large amounts” of drugs coming from Syria to Jordan.

A source at the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) said that rules of engagement were applied to the smugglers, leading to their escape, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Searching the area, security personnel found 1,021,851 Captagon pills, 35 palm-sized sheets of hashish and several weapons, which were all referred to the relevant authorities, the JAF source added.

The source stressed that the army will apply “full force” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts, protecting the Kingdom’s borders and citizens.
