PM hails IEC for ‘transparent’ conduct of local polls

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh on Wednesday praised the Independent Elections Commission (IEC) in its "objective, transparent and efficient" efforts in overseeing and organising Tuesday’s governorate and municipal council elections.
Khasawneh said that the IEC have practised its constitutional mandate “objectively and efficiently” in organising and supervising the elections, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The prime minister also praised the efforts of all those who were involved in the elections: the Interior Ministry, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and the Ministry of Local Administration, in addition to media.
He added that Jordanians abroad must be enabled to participate in the local elections.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Labour Ministry's administrative system bylaw for 2022, the Jordan Valley Authority administrative system bylaw for 2022, among other bylaws.
