ADFD announces launch of faculties at Jordan’s public universities

AMMAN — The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) on Tuesday announced the launch of five faculties at Jordan’s public universities with a total value of $21.87 million.

The move is part of a $126.89 million programme aimed to improve public universities in the Kingdom, comprising some 27 projects.

The newly launched ADFD-funded projects include building a number of faculties at Al Bayt University and Mutah University, in addition to a project by an energy research centre at Al Hussein Bin Talal University, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing an ADFD statement.

The statement said that a number of development projects were in strategic sectors, including energy, transport, water, agriculture, health and education, and were funded under a UAE grant made to Jordan in 2012, worth $1.25 billion, through the Gulf Fund for Development programme. Since 1974, the ADFD has funded several development projects in Jordan with a total value of $1.77 billion.
