Jordan's trade balance deficit with EU up by 12.9% in 2021

AMMAN — The Kingdom's trade balance deficit with EU countries during 2021 increased by 12.9 per cent to some JD2.671 billion, compared with 2020, which amounted to almost JD2.364 billion, the Department of Statistics (DoS) announced on Saturday.

According to foreign trade data issued by the DoS, the value of national exports to EU countries in 2021 increased by 29.9 per cent to some JD199 million, compared with 2020 when the value amounted to some JD153 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The department's figures also revealed that the value of imports from the EU also increased by 14 per cent in 2021, reaching some JD2.870 billion, compared with 2020, which amounted to JD2.517 billion. In addition, the data showed that the Netherlands was the top importer of Jordanian products in 2021 with some JD39 million, while Germany was the EU’s largest exporter to the Kingdom with around JD544 million.
