AMMAN — The National Epidemiological Committee on Monday recommended that patients tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 be self-quarantined rather than being sent to undergo institutional quarantine.

Adel Bilbeisi, secretary general at the Health Ministry for epidemiological affairs and the official in charge of the COVID-19 crisis, told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that those attending any celebrations are required to present a vaccination certificate and a negative PCR test taken up to 48 hours before the event.

If three months had passed since receiving the second jab, people who are attending such events are required to take the booster shot before attending any gathering, Bilbeisi added.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom has so far recorded 328 Omicron cases, the Ministry of Health announced, stressing that all the patients are in good health condition.
