ACI's exports up by 16% in first 11 months of 2021

Exports to the US increased by 88%, making it the top importer with a value of JD948m

AMMAN — Exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) in the first 11 months of 2021 increased by 16 per cent compared with the same period in 2019, ACI announced on Saturday.

The chamber's industrial exports stood at JD4.792 billion during the January-November period of 2021, compared with JD4.141 billion for the same period in 2019, according to ACI statistical data, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The US, India, Saudi Arabia and Iraq accounted for the majority of ACI's exports during the first 11 months of 2021, accounting for JD2.805 billion, the chamber said.

The ACI's exports to the US increased during the January-November period of 2021 by 88 per cent, making it the top importer of the chamber's exports with a value of JD948 million, compared with JD504 million for the same period in 2019.

The chamber's exports to India also increased during the past 11 months of 2021 by 34 per cent, reaching some JD838 million, compared with JD627 million for the same period in 2019.

The chamber's exports to the Iraqi market witnessed a slight increase of 1 per cent during the 11 months of 2021 to JD495 million, compared with JD490 million for the same period in 2019.

The ACI’s exports to Saudi Arabia during the January-November period of 2021 dropped by 4 per cent to JD524 million, compared with around JD546 million during the same period in 2019.

Exports to Syria during the past 11 months of 2021 increased by 32 per cent to JD85 million, compared with JD65 million for the same period in 2019, according to ACI figures.

Exports to other countries — mainly Indonesia, Egypt, Brazil, Algeria, Turkey, Malaysia, Yemen, Belgium, Libya and Spain — increased during the January-November period of 2021.

On the other hand, exports to several countries — mainly Palestine, the UAE, China, Qatar, Lebanon, Sudan, Canada, Italy, Tunisia and Bangladesh — decreased during the January-November period of 2021.

The ACI’s top exports in the first 11 months of 2021 were distributed to the mining industries that accounted for JD1.256 billion, chemicals and cosmetics with JD1.057 billion and engineering, electric and IT with JD572 million.
