Domestic revenues up by 18.8% in first 9 months of 2021

AMMAN — Domestic revenues increased in the first nine months of 2021 to JD880.3 million, marking an 18.8-per cent rise from the figure reported in the same period of 2020, official figures showed on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Finance indicated that the rise in local revenue was primarily driven by higher tax collection that increased by JD531.3 million, while non-tax revenues witnessed a hike of JD349 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The ministry said the figures reflect a “prudent fiscal policy” and are consistent with projections set forth in the general budget, adding that strong anti-tax evasion and avoidance policies contributed to achieving these figures.

Income tax collections recorded in the nine-month period rose to JD1.037 billion, marking an increase of 8 per cent from the JD961 million recorded in the same period of 2020, the ministry said.

Nevertheless, public expenditure increased by JD453.3 million, or 6.8 per cent in the January-September period, while the pre-foreign aid budget deficit dropped by JD369.1million to a total of JD958.6 million.
