9 COVID deaths, 1,191 virus cases recorded Tuesday

AMMAN — Nine COVID-19 deaths and 1,191 virus cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Tuesday, increasing the caseload to 835,969, the government announced.
The new fatalities took the Kingdom’s coronavirus death toll to 10,827, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health.
The share of tests returning a positive result, known as positive rate, stood at nearly 3.91 per cent.
A total of 30,456 virus tests were also conducted on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the outbreak of the pandemic to 10,404,370, according to the statement.
The statement added that 1,052 recoveries were registered in hospitals and home quarantine on Tuesday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 811,013.
The statement added that there are currently 14,129 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.
A total of 73 COVID-19 patients were admitted to hospitals on Tuesday, taking the number of patients currently receiving care for COVID-19 in hospitals to 469, the statement said, adding that 60 recovered patients have left hospitals.
On hospital capacities, the statement revealed that in the northern region the occupancy rate of isolation beds occupied by COVID-19 patients reached 8 per cent, ICU beds reached 30 per cent, while the occupancy rate of ventilators stood at 13 per cent.
In the central region, isolation bed occupancy rate reached 12 per cent, 23 per cent for ICUs and 8 per cent for ventilators.
The statement added that the southern region registered an isolation bed occupancy rate of 8 per cent, 19 per cent for ICUs and 15 per cent for ventilators.
The cases comprised 445 in Amman, 258 in Irbid, 114 in Zarqa, 60 in Aqaba, 50 in Ajloun, 44 in Karak, 44 in Maan, 39 in Madaba, 38 in Balqa, 35 in Mafraq, 23 in Jerash, 22 in Tafileh and 19 in Ramtha District, while no infections were recorded in Petra District.
The statement added that the total number of people who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine has reached 3,799,686, while 3,385,572 have gotten their second shot.
The number of people who have registered on the vaccination platform has reached 4,205,355.
