NCHR calls for promoting right of access to information

AMMAN — The National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) on Tuesday called for promoting  the right of access to information, highlighting its key role in enhancing and protecting human rights.

In a statement released on the occasion of the International Day for Universal Access to Information, the NCHR said that responding to requests relevant to access to information would enhance transparency and help combat corruption.

The statement also highlighted the importance of effective participation in civil and political life, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The centre also called for speeding up legislation relevant to the right of access to information.
