AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Abdulmunim Oddat met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi in Baghdad, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Saturday.
During the meeting, Oddat conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah’s greetings to Kadhimi and highlighted the King’s keenness to implement the outcomes of the tripartite Jordanian-Egyptian-Iraqi summits at the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership to best serve the three nations.
Oddat also reiterated the Kingdom’s keen interest to build good relations with Iraq, congratulating the success of the recent Baghdad-held conference.
He also commended Iraq’s efforts towards pursuing the policy of dialogue and peace, to ensure regional stability. He expressed Jordan’s appreciation of Iraq’s role in combating terrorism that threatens the entire region.
“Iraq’s experience of balance and recovery deserves all support,” Oddat said, emphasising that “Jordan sees Iraq’s security as an essential pillar of regional security”.
Kadhimi emphasised the “deep-rooted” Iraqi-Jordanian relations that have recently achieved a high level of cooperation.
He lauded His majesty’s role in this regard, noting that “this was evident in His Majesty’s active presence in the tripartite summits, as well as at the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership”.
Strengthening Baghdad-Amman ties would enhance regional stability and achieve strategic and economic partnerships, he added, urging the two countries’ parliamentarians to move towards easing mutual and regional integration.
