KHCC to administer oncology department at Al Bashir Hospital

AMMAN — The Health Ministry and the King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC) on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement, under which the KHCC will fully administer and operate the oncology department at Al Bashir Hospital.

HRH Princess Ghida Talal, chairperson of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and the KHCC, and Health Minister Feras Al Hawari signed the agreement in the presence of Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

The agreement includes daily outpatient clinics and chemical treatment according to a plan to be defined by a multi-specialised committee affiliated with the KHCC, in addition to providing the department with necessary medical personnel.

Khasawneh expressed confidence that the cancer centre at Al Bashir Hospital will be as efficient as the KHCC, which has become one of the prestigious medical institutions at the international level in treating cancer.

Princess Ghida said that the agreement will increase opportunities for cancer patients in the Kingdom to receive medical treatment. 

Hawwari said that the aim of the agreement is to improve the level of services presented to citizens at Al Bashir Hospital and guarantee the right of all cancer patients to receive medical care within a safe environment that preserves their dignity and privacy.

Under the agreement, the KHCC will provide the hospital with a list of accredited medicines according to the recommendations of a specialised committee.

As part of the agreement, the KHCC will also send a team to supervise the quality of care and public safety, among other items in the agreement.
