Khalaileh reiterates Jordan's support for Jerusalem Awqaf Council

AMMAN — Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh on Wednesday reiterated the ministry’s support for the Jerusalem Awqaf Council’s efforts, in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives.
During his meeting with head and members of the council, Khalaileh highlighted the importance of cooperating with the council through the Jerusalem Awqaf Department and Aqsa Affairs Department, to protect Islamic holy sites amid the occupation’s violations.
Head of the Jerusalem Awqaf Council Sheikh Abdul Azim Salhab expressed appreciation of the King’s efforts towards protecting the Islamic and Christian holy shrines, stressing that there is no alternative to the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Talks also went over offering end of service benefits to the staff of Jerusalem Awqaf, the regulations of the Jerusalem Awqaf Council, recent developments in Jerusalem and continued Israeli violations at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, notably hindering maintenance and restoration works.
Discussions also covered a request related to excluding the staff of the Jerusalem Awqaf Department from the suspension of appointments issued due to the coronavirus pandemic.
