USA Rice Federation donates 5 tonnes of rice to Mabarrat Um Al Hussein orphanage

AMMAN — USA Rice Federation, in cooperation with the US embassy in Amman and two local Jordanian US rice importers, Intermarkets Jordan and Shaban Group, donated five tonnes of high-quality US origin rice on Tuesday to support the children of Mabarrat Um Al Hussein orphanage, according to an embassy statement.
The institution makes a tremendous contribution to the Jordanian society and supports those in need through providing a safe environment and learning opportunities to help these children attain a happy and fulfilling adult life, the embassy said.
US origin rice has been present in the Jordanian market for many years now. It has become the most popular rice variety in the country, imported by several local companies and used daily in many Jordanian households trusted for its high quality and great taste, the statement said.
The US rice industry is committed to deliver high quality and nutritious US rice to Jordanian consumers and families and to help those in need. USA Rice Federation is a non-profit trade association representing the US rice industry that works together with local Jordanian importers to support their businesses with promotional activities, according to the statement.
"We are very grateful to Intermarkets Jordan and Shaban Group for their generosity in making this donation possible and hope that we can contribute to the success of the important work the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein orphanage does to help the local community,” said Mohamed Khraishy, senior agricultural specialist at the USDA, FAS in Amman who handed over the donation to the institution.
“We thank all who were present here today for their work and engagement, and their commitment to making a difference and reaching out a helping hand to those who need it the most,” Khraishy said.
