AMMAN — The Lower House, chaired by Speaker Abdulmunim Oddat, and in the presence of Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh and Cabinet members, on Sunday approved the partnership agreement with the UK, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The agreement ensures the continuation of relations between the two countries in accordance with the Association Agreement signed with the EU in 1997. The agreement follows the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU, marking the end of the transitional period, which precedes the implementation of international agreements.
Jordan had continued to deal with the UK as a member state of the EU throughout the transitional period, within the framework of the Association Agreement. Khasawneh said that the agreement fills the legislative gap in commercial and industrial relations and issues related to the rules of origin post-Brexit.
