The conference took place virtually and connected Amazon leaders from across the world with talent from the country’s burgeoning tech landscape, the statement said.
AMTECH 2020 was inaugurated by Ronaldo Mouchawar, vice president of Amazon Middle East and North Africa (MENA), who addressed attendees with a keynote speech anchored around Customer Obsession, one of Amazon’s guiding principles and the overarching theme of this year’s event.
This year’s virtual event consisted of a series of live and recorded talks, moderated Q&A sessions and opportunities for participants to engage directly with Amazon employees during the conference.
Under the theme of Customer Obsession, AMTECH 2020 covered a range of subjects including Machine Learning, FinTech, Software Design, Logistics, Inventory and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Ronaldo Mouchawar, vice president of Amazon MENA, said: “Following a successful inaugural event in 2019 in Jordan, it was extremely exciting to keep the series going and be back hosting AMTECH 2020 virtually. Jordan has a very strong tech landscape, and this year’s conference has proven to be another truly rewarding experience as we gathered some of the brightest minds from the country once again. We are very proud of the exchange that took place as our teams at Amazon shared the latest tech innovations while listening, engaging and learning from incredible talent in Jordan’s tech community.”
He continued: “At Amazon, we are guided by four principles: Customer obsession, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. AMTECH 2020 gave us another chance to discuss the resources needed to develop unique long-term solutions addressing the growing needs of customers in the region.”
Following the inauguration, Rajeev Rastogi, vice president, Machine Learning of Amazon India, gave a presentation on Machine Learning Modeling Best Practices.
The conference included various presentations highlighting Amazon’s mission of becoming the world’s most customer-centric company
Amazon office in Amman has a workforce of more than 600 employees, according to the statement.
