AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department, on Monday evening foiled a drug smuggling attempt from Syria into the Kingdom, a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) source said on Tuesday.

Zone officers applied the rules of engagement followed in such cases, which led to the injury of one of the suspected smugglers as they were retreating into the Syrian territory, the source added as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

After searching the area, a “large amount” of drug pills was seized and they were transferred to the concerned authorities, the source said, stressing that JAF would “firmly deal” with any infiltration or smuggling attempts to protect the Kingdom's borders.
