Japan honours former PM Masri with Order of the Rising Sun

AMMAN — The Government of Japan has decided to confer the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun, the highest class Japanese decoration for foreigners, upon former prime minister Taher Masri for his “magnificent contribution” to strengthening friendly relations between Japan and Jordan, according to a Japanese embassy statement.
Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu has sent a message to Masri, expressing his congratulations on the conferment in recognition of his outstanding contribution, the statement said.
The Ceremony of Imperial Conferment of Decoration will take place in Imperial Palace on November 11, 2020, in which the Emperor of Japan will award the insignia to Masri, according to the statement.
