AMMAN — Jordan has set an example in its actions to address the coronavirus pandemic, which have included imposing a curfew and shutting down airports and travel early on, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Health Jasem Falahi said on Saturday.

Lauding the Kingdom’s measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak, Falahi said that precautionary measures such as quarantining arrivals to the Kingdom and isolating “any individual who shows coronavirus symptoms” have made Jordan a “model” for responding to a virus outbreak.

Commenting on the pandemic situation in Iraq, the official said that the country also took early measures, which have involved mainly suspending air travel and warning against complacency regarding the virus, he told the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Iraq has 72 per cent recovery rate, he said, adding that 85 per cent of coronavirus patients in his country have mild to moderate infections and “could recover without suffering health problems” after receiving treatment.
