AMMAN — Minister of Interior Salameh Hammad on Thursday chaired a remote meeting with administrative governors in the presence of Director General of the Social Security Corporation (SSC) Hazem Rahahleh to promote the importance of subscribing to the SSC.

The minister said that the meeting aimed to expand the existing coordination between the Ministry of Interior and administrative governors to include the SSC, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The meeting also aimed to highlight the necessity of developing an instructional awareness plan to promote subscribing to the SSC, especially for small establishments across the Kingdom, he said.

Hammad noted that an awareness plan has been developed by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the SSC, which includes field trips to stores and establishments in cooperation with the relevant authorities in the governorates to highlight the importance of subscribing to the SSC as a social protection umbrella.

Hammad pointed out that administrative governors carry a “great responsibility” in implementing government decisions and policies as heads of the executive authority in their respective areas.

For his part, Rahahleh said that subscribing to the SSC is obligatory under the law for every establishment operating in the Kingdom.

He highlighted that more than 100,000 small establishments in Jordan are not covered by the SSC, which calls for expediting their subscriptions.
