AMMAN — Jordan on Wednesday condemned a terrorist attack in Cairo’s Al Amiriya neighbourhood, expressing full support to Egypt in combatting terrorism, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
The attack occurred late on Tuesday, according to media reports. The exchange of gunfire led to the death of a police officer and seven suspected militants, and the injury of three other police officers.
On his Twitter account, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said: “We condemn the cowardly act of terrorism in Cairo.”
“Egypt is stronger than terrorism and it is capable of protecting its security. This is our collective war,” the Foreign minister tweeted in Arabic.
Affirming the Kingdom’s full support to Egypt’s counterterrorism efforts, Safadi expressed condolences to the family of the officer who fell in the line of duty and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
