AMMAN — The Petra Museum on Tuesday received an artefact representing the head of a hollow pottery statue of a woman, which was discovered by a foreign tourist during a tour of Petra city.

The Department of Antiquities said that the museum will hand over the artefact on Wednesday for examination to be entered into the archaeological records, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

Director of the Petra Museum Nahar Rawadia told Petra that he addressed the Maan Department of Antiquities to receive the piece, adding that the artifact surfaced due to the drifts and erosions caused by rainfall.
