AMMAN — Speaker of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) Salim Zanoun on Friday called for international protection of the Palestinian people and safeguarding of Muslim and Christian holy sites, which are currently experiencing Israeli violations.
In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Zanoun slammed the world’s “unjustified silence” on the occupation’s attack against worshippers at Al Aqsa Mosque. Israeli gangs also set Badrieah Mosque in Jerusalem’s Shurafat village, south of the holy city, on fire, and defaced its walls with racist graffiti.
Zanoun called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in holding Israel accountable according to international law and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
