AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Wednesday said that all measures need to be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of Jordanian pilgrims.

Visiting the Awqaf Ministry, Razzaz stressed that all services provided to Jordanian pilgrims performing this years’ Hajj need to be improved, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdul Nasser Abul Bassal briefed Razzaz on the ministry’s plan for this year’s Hajj (the greater pilgrimage to Mecca), explaining that an online system and mobile app have been developed for services to pilgrims, including transportation, accommodation, guidance and complaints.

The minister also said that a tracking system will be installed on buses carrying pilgrims to follow up on any breakdowns and carriers' commitment with the safety standards, Petra added.

To ease financial transactions, each pilgrim will be provided with a digital wallet through a credit card, the minister said.

Saudi Arabia this year has increased Jordan's official quota on the number of pilgrims, which reflects the Jordanian-Saudi deep ties, he added.
