AMMAN — Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Sunday met with the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss regional developments and ways of furthering bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Safadi stressed the depth of strategic relations between the two countries, which are “in constant progress”, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
The two officials highlighted Jordanian-Emirati unity in facing all obstacles threatening their security and stability.
Safadi affirmed that the Kingdom spares no effort in its support to the UAE against any threats to its security and stability, the statement said.
His Majesty King Abdullah had reiterated the aforementioned point during a phone conversation with Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi’s crown prince and deputy supreme commander of the UAE’s armed forces, in light of the recent sabotage attack that targeted four ships docked near Emirati territorial waters.
The ministers also discussed developments within the Arab Gulf, the security of which constitutes a pillar of regional and international stability.
They underscored the importance of not meddling with the affairs of other Arab countries, pointing out that maintaining peace and stability requires regional relations that are built on principles of good neighbourliness.
They pointed to the importance of continued coordination and discussion of the region’s issues and ways to resolve them.
